Brian Murphy says his partner Summer Miracle was blasted in the leg after Diesel leaped on to a nightstand where he kept his firearm

He then saw a flash accompanied by a loud bang and realised his girlfriend had been injured.
In a police report, detectives wrote that Diesel 'jumped on the nightstand where his gun was sitting and it went off', according to Murphy.
Miracle suffered a gunshot wound to her right leg but she was unable to tell police what happened, apart from the 'throbbing pain' in her stricken limb.

Murphy is said to have wrapped his girlfriend's leg in a towel and immediately dialled 911.
She was rushed to hospital but escaped with 'non-life threatening injuries' and is expected to make a full recovery.

Murphy, 25, from Jacksonville, Florida, told police that the animal woke him up so he decided to take the pooch for a nighttime walk, reports abc13.com .
