Another "Blasphemy" case accused shot dead in Pakistan

Rawalpindi: Only two days after the assassination of Pakistan’s minorities affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti, a man accused in a blasphemy case was shot dead on the outskirts of Rawalpindi on Friday.
Mohammad Imran was gunned down by three masked men near a bus stand in Danda village of Rawalpindi, a garrison city adjacent to the capital Islamabad, the Dawn newspaper reported.
Imran had been charged with blasphemy in April 2009 for allegedly making insulting remarks about Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) during a discussion in a village cafe.
He and fellow defendant Sajid Mahmood were set free by a court order on February 13 last year after the prosecution failed to produce evidence.
A policeman said two of the attackers entered the shop while the third stayed outside. “After spotting the target, they opened fire, killing Imran on the sport and escaped,” Mahmood Ahmad said.
Mohammad Akram, elder brother of Imran, said his brother was killed by a man from a nearby village who had originally accused him of blasphemy.
Punjab governor Salman Taseer and Bhatti have been assassinated since January for making comments critical of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.

. .
This looks to be public rather than Government who is supporting this law.

Anybody claimed responsibility?

This looks to be personal matter (village) but still related to Blasphemy law.

Thats it. It has now become personal. It reminds me of movie "Gangajal"

.
It looks more like someone's personal grudge against this guy than blasphemy issue. What a shame.

.
Sometimes in Pakistan it's hard to tell good guys from bad guys and most of the time govt guys play both roles

.
Its too late now no one's has the balls to even speak about blasphemy law forget about changing it...Freedom of speech is a distant dream...

whats the use of such democracy Musharraf was much better for pakistan... but if pakistan survives now democracy may bring change in the long run...

Until them lets pray for the victim... RIP...

This newly emerging blashpemy cult is the gift of PPP to the nation out of to their vision of promoting a specific school of thought to corner in the talibans and other hardcore forces..fueled generous by forgien aid..now the plan has backfired. I would like to indulge in more details but risk a ban..so for those blessed with common sense have a look around and notice a specific gang of religioys zealots who have gained prominence since the appointment of PPP rule! We need to grow out of this secretarian politics!

Such cases should be held with some privacy to the accused party and there should be some real analysis on how the person is charged and prosecuted
