Malaysian navy chief calls on Admiral Zafar Mahmood

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Badaruddin on Monday visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ), Islamabad and called on Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

Upon arrival at naval headquarters, the visiting dignitary was received by the naval chief, said a statement issued here by the directorate of public relations of Pakistan Navy (PN).

A smartly turned-out contingent of PN clad in ceremonial dress presented a guard of honour. The visiting dignitary was then introduced to principal staff officers at NHQ.

Later, Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad called on Admiral Abbasi in his office where discussions on professional matters and bilateral naval collaboration were held. Various avenues of cooperation between the two navies were also discussed.

Pakistan’s commitment and performance in the fight against terrorism, including participation of PN in Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan (CMCP) and counter-piracy operations were also highlighted.

The Malaysian navy chief highly appreciated the role and contributions of Pakistan Navy in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The call was followed by a comprehensive brief given to the visiting dignitary on Pakistan Navy’s perspective on regional issues and PN’s contributions towards peace and stability at sea.

Later, the chief of Royal Malaysian Navy laid a wreath at Shuhada Monument at naval headquarters. In the second leg of his visit, the visiting Malaysian navy chief is scheduled to visit PN field commands at Lahore and Karachi.

Mamnoon confers Nishan-e-Imtiaz on Malaysian navy chief

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Monday conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) on the chief of Malaysian Royal Navy Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarul Zaman, here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Addressing on the occasion, the president said that Pakistan had eradicated the menace of terrorism from its soil and the terrorists were carrying out their activities from across the border. He added that the country’s border with Afghanistan would be fenced to check the infiltration of terrorists.

President Mamnoon said Pakistan and Malaysia are sincere friends who stand with each other in difficult times.

He lauded the role of Malaysia to support Pakistan’s attainment of the full membership of ASEAN.

The ceremony was attended by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi and civil and military officials.

ISLAMABAD, 21 Feb 18:Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy, Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Hj Ahmad Badaruddin is on an official visit to Pakistan.

During the visit, Chief of Royal Malaysian Naval Forces called on Chief of the Naval staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at Naval Headquarters Islamabad on 19 Feb 18, where discussions on professional matters and avenues of existing and future naval collaboration were focused.

In the second leg of the visit, Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Hj Ahmad Badaruddin met with various Naval Field Commands at Lahore and Karachi. The dignitary visited Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, and called on Commandant Pakistan Navy War College, Rear Admiral Naveed Ahmed Rizvi.

During the visit to Karachi, Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy called on Commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar, Commander Coast, Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas and Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi in separate meetings.

During the meetings, besides discussions on professional matters and bilateral naval collaboration, the Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy lauded Pakistan Navy’s role and commitments in maintaining peace and stability in the region through persistent participation in Coalition Counter terrorism and Counter Piracy Task Forces.

Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Hj Ahmad Badaruddin also laid floral wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid. Later, the dignitary visited various PN establishments and ships.

The visit of Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy to Pakistan is expected to further strengthen the bilateral defence collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia in general and the two Navies in particular.
