Malaysia to Identify and Inform Illegal Money by Pakistanis

In an effort to curb tax evasion, authorities have taken a step to obtain information of Pakistanis that have illegal funds parked in Malaysia.

They have formally requested the Malaysian tax authorities to assist in the identification of Pakistanis who have illegal funds stashed away. The authorities have also asked for Pakistanis who have invested in Malaysia’s Residence by Investment (RBI) schemes and are now hiding behind RBI-based residential status.

In this regard, Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Director General (International Taxes), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has written a letter to Shaharrudy Othman, Director Department of International Taxation Inland Revenue, Board of Malaysia.

DG International Taxes FBR informed Malaysian tax authorities that they have no problem with Pakistani nationals investing and doing business in Malaysia legally with lawfully remitted funds.

However, he added that Pakistan is gravely concerned with the persons who may have siphoned off funds illegally from Pakistan, parked them in Malaysia and now hiding behind RBI-based status to circumvent reporting under the CRS. This is, of course, not the desired situation for either of the nations – particularly Pakistan.

Pakistan and Malaysia signed the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income (ADTA) on May 29, 1982, which came into effect on April 12, 1983.

Although both countries have historically continued to maintain an active EOI relationship, the signing of the Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters has reinforced and emphasized its importance, said Dr Ahmed.

Both Pakistan and Malaysia have an active Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) relationship on financial and bank account information under the Common Reporting Standard-Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement (CRS-MCAA) signed under the Multilateral Convention. The first exchange of banking and financial account information under the CRS-MCAA took place on September 30, 2018.

Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq said that information received from Malaysia is insignificant since only 1,609 accounts have been reported and the number of accounts with a substantial balance is negligible. This might be due to Malaysia’s domestic laws which allow foreign nationals to obtain residence on the basis of investment beyond a certain threshold, he added.

Looks like IK isn't going anywhere unless he gets a large portion of the laundered billions of $s - the epitome of corruption and moral bankruptcy - back to Pak!!! If the UNGA speech is any precedence it'll be damn tough for the Westerners - always showing "Judo-Christian morality" coupled with Greek Law/Philosophy as the cause for their supremacy- to say NO to this adamant fellow who won't let them sleep in peace...

*IK's last resort may be Gandhi-style fast-till-death camping outside the seats of the Western powers!!! Not a pleasant scenario for them

Dont worry it will come

Then nawaajaa can be transferred directly to Guantanamo as he has requested

of course it will come.... but since you know already that it's only nawaja than why bother asking!

. .
We do ask the UK, Switzerland, US, etc. but they intentionally delay the process and make Pakistan go through lots of legal hoops and red tape.
Exactly... but don't you think if we reach them at diplomatic level, than they have no where to run?
If IK can talk to President of Malysia and King of KSA, what's wrong if he ask Boris Jhonson?

If you read my response i didnt ask a question...
Please read in continuation of context.
I mean asking UK about the rest of the lot, since we already know it's one and only Nawaz Sharif.
