The number of casualties in Siachen in the last one year is 26.

Twelfth Round of Defence Secretary level talks were held between India & Pakistan on 30-31 May 2011, during which both sides welcomed the ongoing dialogue process, contributing to an enhanced understanding of each other`s position. It was also agreed to continue the discussions in a meaningful and result oriented manner.

This information was given by Minister of Defence Shri A.K. Antony in written reply to Dr. Ajay Kumar and Shri Suresh Kumar Shetkar in Lok Sabha today.

Pak is apparently fighting on several fronts. With Afghan, India, US, internal, afghan taliban etc. They are just trying to close 1 front against India till US allied forces getting out of afghan. This is known as tactical drop-down in strategic affairs.
