ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has suffered a loss of $69 million on war against terrorism and has not received any funding through the Coalition Support Fund (CSF), Interior Minister of State Imtiaz Safdar Warraich told the National Assembly on Tuesday.

In reply to questions by law makers during the assembly session, Warraich said that from March 2008 to 2011 there were 18 registered cases of terrorism in Islamabad, and 24 registered cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He informed that there were 68 cases of terrorism reported in Sindh, 2059 in Balochistan and 12 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that in cases of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the legal heirs of the victims of terror acts have been awarded a total of Rs 108 million, while Rs 74.28 million have been awarded to the heirs of the deceased and the victims of terrorism in the federal capital city of Islamabad.

He further stated that the war on terror in Gilgit-Baltistan had incurred losses worth Rs 1 billion.

Although many of the accused have been caught, the acts of terrorism in the country are a matter of concern, Warraich said.

He said that the government has been making efforts to fight terrorism, while keeping in check its capacity to continue this war, staying in close coordination with intelligence agencies to improve intelligence sharing.

He added that numerous accused have also been arrested during snap-checkings.

The senate also unanimously approved the 2013 Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) bill during Tuesday’s session.
