Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Limited, the largest textile manufacturer in the country, on Thursday claimed that they invented a new fabric ‘Corona Block Fabric’ with the help of biocidal and virucidal treatment, which could kill coronavirus within 120 seconds with the precision of 99.9 per cent.

A company named United Global Holdings from UAE has already placed an order for 15 lacs masks made with this fabric. An Unknown consignment of these fabrics was exported to USA and EU at the beginning of this month . More than 100 foreign companies has shown interest in purchasing it.

Z&Z, a concern of the country’s leading garment exporter Noman Group, made the claim at a press conference on the introduction of the fabric in the capital.

Senior officials of the company said that the fabric was invented with the help of some chemical ingredients which were registered under the United States toxic substance control act and Environmental Protection Agency.

Anol Rayhan, brand manager of Z&Z, said that the treatment of the fabric had been tested and validated under the test norm ISO 18184 and had regulatory coverage.

He said that they made the product with the support of its two Swiss partners and all the long-time global partners (buyers) of Z&Z were excited with the innovation as the world might have to exist with the pandemic for long.

‘We have started sending the fabric to our buyers in the US and European Union from the first week of this month and received responses from more than 100 buyers as of today.’ he said.

Anol said that the local consumers would be able to buy the product from Blue Jens, an online shop of the company, from the next month and the prices would be 20 per cent higher than the normal products.

Raashid Asraf Khan, chief marketing officer of Zaber & Zubair, said that the fabric was virus and bacteria protected, wash durable, soft and breathable in 100 per cent cotton and blends, and safe for skin.

‘For the PPE fabrics, it is solvent and fluid repellent in 100 per cent polyester composition, has high tensile and tear strength and is wash durable up to 20 washes,’ he said.

Mate anything to keep the economy running. I’m sure the headroom they’ll have exporting it won’t be long to make those products available for local market. If people aren’t taking precautions then no use of keeping them available for local market.

I meant donating a few thousand for the countries health care workers.... Other than that I agree completely.

More people will die from famine and starvation if the economy doesn't rebound asap. Countries like Bangladesh can't afford to put the economy at a standstill but Corona has forced the unthinkable upon the policy makers.

Factories are being restarted again and so is the recent spike in cases... marginal tbh...

Well it’s a pandemic the world wasn’t prepared for. What do you expect? Bangladesh is doing better than most countries, in ukraine 300 dead 16k infected... had 13 ventilators only before the pandemic became worse... they closed down the whole med college and are making us do distance learning because hospitals aren’t safe here

The real death toll in Bangladesh is going unreported, because most deaths beyond the ones in hospitals aren't being investigated and counted. You can't compare the performance of one country to another, BAL mongrels could've done a lot better.... For instance we need 15,000 tests a day minimum but until last week we've only had 5000 tests per day and finally in the last few days it has jumped up to 8k.... A long way to go ahead if only those Chinese wet markets didn't exist.

This has been debunked before. If the deaths are unreported then people would die in the hundreds of thousands as the bodies wouldn’t be buried properly. You don’t have to test the entire 180 million of the population, just following the guidelines and tracing back contacts is enough and testing those people to confirm.
Just a good example is what happened in Iran, they underreported their deaths and then had more of their population die than others...
the Chinese definitely underreported their death and they can get away with it because of tight control on narratives of state media

This is Bangladesh we're talking about, nobody gives a rat arse if a few hundred thousand poor nameless sods die....
