Zarb-e-Azb may extend to Balochistan to fight insurgents: sources - The Express Tribune

QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday to discuss national security and the law and order situation of Quetta, Express News reported.

Sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune that Operation Zarb-e-Azb might be expanded to Balochistan to fight against Baloch insurgents as well.

The army launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb against militants in North Waziristan in June 2014.

“COAS and PM apart from this issue also discussed visiting top level delegation led by Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif in Saudi Arabia,” the sources further added.

During his visit, the army chief presided over a law and order meeting at the Frontier Crops Balochistan Headquarters office.

The meeting came days after a sickening orgy of bloodshed played out in a remote town of southern Balochistan on April 11 when 20 construction workers were methodically massacred in a predawn attack on their camp near Turbat city in Kech district of Balochistan.

Inspector General Frontier Crops (IGFC) Sher Afghan, Balcohistan home secretary, IG Police and other high officials are present during the meeting.

Major-General Sher Afghan briefed the army chief regarding the law and order situation in the province and search operations being carried out in Turbat and its outskirts.

Upon arrival, the army chief was received by Commander of Southern Command Lt General Nasir Khan Janjua.

Acting on a tip-off, the Frontier Corps on April 13 shot dead at least 13 suspected militants, including assailants accused of killing 20 labourers in Turbat.

“Security forces with the help of secret agencies have launched the massive search operation in and around Turbat,” spokesperson for FC Balochistan told The Express Tribune.

I think Musharraf's handling of Balochistan and Red Mosque were the only two of his right decisions. The Bugti's were out of their mind, blowing up pipelines and infrastructure.

The media handling of Red Mosque was pathetic to say the least
Also the Bugti death agravated the situation further
Under the PPP and now the nationalist govt. now even though the governance is pathetic but atleast the temperature is down
Keep doing the job quitely meaning taking out ppl who are trouble makers without making much noise

I agree with you. Hamid Mir-like pseudoliberals make the states job very hard. There was no need to portray the neutral side in either of the events, Red Mosque people were plain and simple wrong. Instead media chose to give "voice" to those vermin.

Can't expect anything good from the govt regarding insurgency in Balochistan.
The govt which changed the name of Jaffar express to "shaheed" Akbar Bugti express.

This is really bad. If thus happens prepare for the worst, this is not FATA, Baluchistan is on boil since 1947. Dont play with the fire like 1971. Your enemy might be waiting for this, be cautious. :)

@cleverrider , Terrorist should be eliminated, they don't have any ethnicity. They do not belong to any religion so please stop stereotyping. I am going to assume from your flag you live in UK, so you must know first hand what stereotyping does. Terrorist from from every corner of Pakistan should be eliminated.

QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday to discuss national security and the law and order situation of Quetta, Express News reported.

The current government and the military are working together to ensure Pakistan is as violence free as possible. The goal is to turn Pakistan's economy into a power house and grow the country to new heights, adding it to the top 20 economies within the next 10-15 years!!!

Over $ 150 billion investment is already planned within the next 24 months by the Chinese. And other foreign investors will pour more into Pakistan if the country becomes terrorism and violence free.

Baluchistan will be the biggest shinny dot on Pakistan's map for the next 20-30 years as it would become the highest growth state within Pakistan. So all foreign terrorists, sponsors of violence, etc, need to be taken out.

Pakistan has a much better future in front of it than dealing with these crazy terrorist maniacs!!
