EFFORTS UNDERWAY TO MAKE COUNTRY SELF-SUFFICIENT IN DEFENCE PRODUCTION: NA TOLD

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Thursday informed the National Assembly that defence production industry was fulfilling 80 percent demand of the armed forces and efforts were being made to make the country self-sufficient in defence production.

Replying to a question during Question Hour,the minister said that the ministry is promoting indigenous production/development of local defence industry through its Defence Production Establishments (DPEs), and are engaged in various development projects.

The main steps / achievements included Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POFs), Heavy Industry Taxila, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), National Radio Telecommunication Company (NRTC),Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW), self-reliance and indigenization and Installation of Ship Lift and Transfer System (SL&TS).

Giving details, he said that Pakistan Ordnance Factories launched a comprehensive programme in year 2011 with estimated cost $ 213.300 million for replacing the old vintage plants/machinery with state-of-the-art modern ones, to improve the quality of products.

It appears small to me and a total of 2 are being built.
These will carry around 40-60 troops. from what i can observe from its size i don't see it carrying more than 2 mechanized vehicles.... let's hope the second one being built is bigger.

Some pics from front will give a nice idea about how it looks. Also any info about its propulsion and capacity ?

Good for Pakistan. The MOST critical step is to create an industry, train people and put in newer technology. Once that's done, then its growth, savings of billions of $$ from that point on, plus the internal ability to conduct R&D.

It appears Pakistan is focusing on all sides, from Aviation (JFT, K8), to Naval industry setup (FAC and Augusta project which setup both boat, frigate and submarine design facilities). Now the private sector will start to take part in it also and the nation will export more and more of military weapons. Good work.

I'd like to see a LR-SAM system being built in house (with future R&D) and a combat helicopter project with full tot (and Pakistan can also build a civilian variant of it for local usage).

why are we making these landing crafts ? our navy does not have enough strength to invade :(
waste of money

Why this :cuckoo: Anyway Congratulations......:enjoy::pakistan:.

Allow rapid deployment of Marines in coastal areas near Indian border.

Edit:

Can be used to rapidly launch Babur CMs or other Missiles in NCW environment, Russian Klub-K System have that capability so it can be developed for our missiles too.

This landing crafts allows us covert and sabotage operations in enemy land ! So dont forget we have also 6-10 Hovercraft, this little task force can land with 2 Alkhalid Tanks and ca. 300 Marines, which can attack enemy Base or create havoc behind the enemy lines etc.
