Lashkar-e-Islam men kill two cricket players

BARA: At least two persons were killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire between militants of banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and local residents on Monday in Sangu area of Peshawar district, a border region with Khyber Agencys Bara area, official sources said.
The sources said villagers were playing cricket at the Chaki Dera Ground in Sangu when a group of LI militants came there and traded harsh words with the players, which led to an exchange of fire. As a result two brothers identified as Shahid and Asif sons of Shamat Khan belonging to Sangu village, died on the spot while two volunteers of LI named as Amir and Zubair sustained injuries.
The family of the deceased lodged a first information report against three workers of LI in Sarband police station, the sources said. Meanwhile, two masked motorcyclists gunned down Muhamadullah son of Lal Zaman, belonging to Malik Din Khel sub-section of Afridi tribe, after picking him from his shop near his house in Nala area of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency late Sunday, sources said.
They said father of the deceased was a member of LI shura and local head of the militant organization in Naaki area of Tirah Valley of Bara sub-division. Security forces imposed ban on motorcycle riding in Bara sub-division last week to stop the ongoing target-killings in the area.
