Lahore: The Government of Punjab has decided to set up Pakistan’s first E-Auction Agriculture Market in Lakhodair, Lahore, a news source reported. Funds for this project will be sourced from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

News sources have revealed that the consultants who will prepare the project map for Lakhodair E-Auction Market will be invited in the next two weeks. Furthermore, Punjab Agriculture Department has already sent the PC-1 for construction of the agriculture market’s boundary wall to the Punjab Planning and Development Department.

Lakhodair Market will feature high-rise buildings as per the directives set by Prime Minister Imran Khan. In addition to that, a dedicated sewerage line will be laid for the market and a dedicated interchange will be constructed at Lahore Ring Road to provide easy access to the market.

The project is estimated to cost PKR 11 billion and will feature processing halls, grading units, and offices for commission agents active at the market. Work on preparing the project plan is expected to start in the next two weeks. Reportedly, the Punjab government will provide funds for the construction of Lakhodair Market’s boundary wall.

Interesting project. more info

"This particular market will be unlike the conventional markets having shops, wholesale outlets and middlemen, but will instead serve as an auction platform having cold storages. For the purpose of grading fruits and vegetables in this market, the government will also set high-tech grader plants. Furthermore, machines will be installed to pack the graded commodities."
