Lahore math club !?

I always had a special interest in mathematics. But due to different misfortunes i couldnt pursue this passion till now. I want to start a math club in Lahore, where i live. Will any of the PDF members from Lahore be interested in joining this club?
We will look at the historical development of mathematics and keep abreast of current research and trends. So anyone in ?

I know what you are thinking but you are thinking wrong.
Sq root of 4 is 2 and only 2.
The equation x^2 = 4 has two solutions, 2 and -2.

Please get lost from here. You know nothing about math. Math is not about the nuances of english language. It is about the precision of mathematical language.

How do you perceive a negative number?
If he is dealing with only scalar quantities he is right. -ve sign only denotes direction of the magnitude of a scalar quantity. For that matter cosine would be an appropriate way to describe it's direction from a reference.

I would urge members here to not be discouraged by that Indian troll above. These sort of people learn nothing in life because everything seem so high and mighty to them. Everything man made lied within the creative faculty of man. Now learning faculty is less exclusive than the creative one. What lies within the creative faculty most definitely lies completely within the learning faculty. What i am saying is that what only few can create, all can learn. Because creatively is exclusive but learning is not. And there are no bigger intellectual losers in this world than that indian guy above.

Coming back to the club. The whole first year will be spent on a detailed study of the historical development of mathematics. Because things evolve from simpler to more complex therefore studying them as they developed is the easiest and affords the best understanding of the subject. Colleges have limited time so they dont follow this approach but its actually the best. Hence i would urge those sitting on the fence to take the plunge.

'Zero' was invented in India. So i urge not to use the word India that way instead address that particular poster.

You are also starting from zero and very basics.

come on man, this has nothing to do with the OP's interest to start a math club. even if he did not know the answer for the above, it does not mean he should not start a math club. He is atleast trying to do something constructive that would help his community.

On topic:
Why not open a thread here and start your ideas/trends. Many people get frightened at Math and hence a "Math club" is not usually the "cool club". you could start by having different levels of people (enthusiast, fun level, expert level or something) and we can start by have 3 types of "issues to solve" every day - one at each level.

Like.. not all infinities are the same. there are levels of infinity (This would be like a enthusiast level and fun level).
