On 17 Feb 2016, SE “Zorya-Mashproekt” situated at Mykolayiv city successfully tested new Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for Gas Turbine aggregates designed for the first ship of Project 15B under construction at the Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL) for the Indian Navy. This is the first time that the turbine aggregates produced at “Zorya-Mashproekt” have been integrated with control systems developed by Indian I.T. giant company Larson & Toubro.

The official ceremony was attended by H.E Manoj Kumar Bharti, Ambassador of India to Ukraine, General Director of SE “UkrOboronProm” Mr. Roman Romanov, General Director of SE “Zorya-Mashproekt” Mr. Konstantin Kartoshkin, First Deputy Secretary of National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Mr. Oleg Gladkovskyi, Head of Mykolayiv State Regional Administration Mr. Vadim Merikov and Mayor of Mykolayiv Mr. Alexander Sinkevich.

Modern day naval ships have comprehensive platform automation capabilities that allow them to achieve unprecedented levels of ship survivability and operational effectiveness. Integrating these capabilities at the platform level can optimise operational effectiveness and capabilities of the crew. The IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System) uses world-class distributed architecture control with Dual Redundant Gigabit Network.

Our IPMS - a VME based control system designed as per Naval requirements complying to Naval standards - is provided to carry out control and monitoring of Propulsion System, Auxiliary Propulsion System, Other Machineries, Power Generation and Distribution System. It is designed to provide training to ship’s crew without affecting real time data acquisition and processing. The data from various sensors and other machineries is collected by the Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) – fitted with I/O cards, VME cards, processed and dumped on the dual redundant network (Naval standard). The consoles – loaded with HMI with multicoloured mimic pages as per ship’s mechanical systems capture the processed data and display at the respective location.

The Primary Control location is Machinery Control Room and secondary control location is bridge. Further, control & monitoring is feasible from other standalone consoles. The IPMS is also interfaced with the Auto Power Management System and shares limited data with Integrated Bridge System.

The drop in plates for the propulsion machineries located at the Bridge and the MCR provide control and monitoring of the propulsion train (FPP/CPP). CPP is controlled with FU and NFU modes. The hardwired drop in plate is replicated in the software along with seamless control transfer between hardwired drop in plate and software based control logic. Control from Multi-Function Consoles (MFCs) is protected through multiple levels of passwords.

Remote Terminal Units:
VME based control system complying IEEE 1101.2-1995 & ANSI/VITA20-2001.

  • Shock Standard - NSS I, NSS II or commercial shock standards
  • Vibration Standard - JSS 55555
  • Enclosure - Up to IP 56
  • Operating Temperature - Upto 55°C
  • EMI/EMC - MIL-STD-461-E
  • Mounting Arrangement - Deck mounting or Bulkhead mounting
  • Types of Channels - AI, DI, DO, AO, Serial, Ethernet
  • MTBF > 8000 Hrs
  • MTTR < 15 minutes
  • Operating Voltage - 24V DC with power shifter PCB
Low Data Latency Time to ensure rapid update of equipment parameters and fast transfer of control signals

Consoles:
Consoles are designed as per ABS class requirement considering ergonomics and operator requirements. Consoles are customized as per customers’ requirements. L&T has successfully supplied more than 200+ consoles of various sizes including IP56 Wing Consoles, Integrated Bridge Consoles, Standalone consoles, etc.

Network:
Dual Redundant Fibre Optic Based 100 Mbps Network with Managed Switches. BITE facility is available up to PCB level.

Additional Features / Interfaces:
  • Battle Damage Control System (BDCS)
  • Addressable Fire Detection System (AFDS)
  • Addressable Flood Alarm System (AFAS)
  • Tank Level & Bilge Level Monitoring System
  • Onboard Training System (OBTS)
  • CCTV System
