Saudi's Mobily cuts call rates to flood-hit Pakistan - Energy - ArabianBusiness.com

Saudi Arabia’s Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has dropped its call rates to flood-hit Pakistan, according to a company statement.

The new rate of 66 halalas per minute will continue until the end of August, the telecom firm said.
Saudi Arabia has pledged $105m in aid to Pakistan following devastating floods – the worst seen in the country in 80 years – which are estimated to have affected 20 million people.

A total of $815.58m has been pledged worldwide, the country’s foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is reported as saying.

Mobily also urged its customers to take part in its charity drive by donating SR10 by SMS, which will then be deducted from their prepaid account or added to their bill.

Mobily is a private company, but I heard that there are many pro-Pakistani Saudis in it. It's a good move by them to act on their own, it shows how deeply the Saudi and the Pakistani people connected to one another.

Mobile is a private company, but I heard that there are many pro-Pakistani Saudis in it. It's a good move by them to act on their own, it shows how deeply the Saudi and the Pakistani people connected to one another.

It's also about corporate social responsibility, & as a private organization, humanitarian or charitable acts are expected from them to appease both their local & foreign employees & customers. This will also have a psychological impact on some people that will convert Mobily's brand image in their minds to one of a responsible organization. That could potentially get them new customers & detract STC & Zain's customers in KSA. In any case, it's a smart business maneuver.

Zain still has better 4G LTE speeds than Mobily though.
