KURSUMLIJA Members of the Gendarmerie clashed on Sunday night in the area of the village Borovac, near Kursumlija, at the administrative line , with armed Kosovo Albanians who stole the woods. In the last ten days this is the third shooting incident in the village.
As reported by Beta agency, the armed conflict lasted about half an hour and it is still not known whether there were any victims, reported Serbian daily Kurir.
The reporter saw several ambulances and a number of members of Gendarmerie near Borovac. According to locals and unofficial information from the police source, armed group of Albanians crossed the administrative line and tried to illegally cut the woods near Borovac. On that occasion they attacked members of Gendarmerie who were in the vicinity.
The president of the Council of the local community Merdare, Caslav Milosevic, said for Beta that the armed conflict lasted about half an hour.
There was shooting like it was war. From several types of weapons. Besides the solitaire gunfire bursts could be heard. Residents of this village are very scared and upset, Milosevic said. Resident Ratomirka Pavlovic (65) said that the incident happened near her family house.
The bullets were whizzing all around. We heard them stab at the trees and tearing the leaves of the trees, Radomirka said. About 20 residents live in Borovac, 5 of them are children. They say that they are all very upset and frightened, because this is not the first time that armed conflicts happened near their houses.
Gendarmerie did not want to comment on the newest shooting incident, and they did not allow reporters to enter the village for the security reasons. As Kurir unofficially learned, action of arresting the Albanians, who illegally cut the wood and attacked members of Gendarmerie, is in progress.
According to the latest informations, 6 Albanians from Kosovo are wounded. Four of them succeeded to run over the border, and two of them are captured by gendarmerie. There are no wounded on the Serbian side.
