Khawaja Asif says his ministry not in control of foreign policy

. . .
About time Pakistani deep state come hard on this mouth peice of America called Dawn news.

They created their own story with their own interpretation. At a time when Pakistan is building pressure on yanks, these fk faces in dawn will bring irrelevant issues to divert the attention. The issue is not Pakistan forigen policy but the failed American one prepared by failed American generals.

"Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday indirectly conceded that his ministry was not in authoritative control of the country’s foreign policy."

What do these arsehole at Dawn mean by this?

According to Asif own words:

"Winding up discussion on the recent visit of the US secretary of state to South Asia and the new American strategy on Afghanistan, he said the foreign policy was being shaped by different institutions and no single institution was in charge of the foreign affairs."

This is a norm in every power. No one institution form the forigen policy on its own rather it's a combine input of state institution including security apparatus, and specifically the intelligence.

extract from the article at Dawn website :

Winding up discussion on the recent visit of the US secretary of state to South Asia and the new American strategy on Afghanistan, he said the foreign policy was being shaped by different institutions and no single institution was in charge of the foreign affairs.

However, he said the policy was framed in the light of recommendations of the National Security Committee and parliament.

Is it bad ?

. . .
I watched the speech in Senate... it's a fake news.. he said nothing to that effect

This is the key quote:

"The foreign minister, while referring to the remarks made a day earlier by Senator Farhatullah Babar who criticised him for advising the Americans to have an Afghan policy free from the influence of generals and asked him to apply the same in Pakistan, said: “I agree that it should be so.”

He made it clear that he had not “unwittingly” criticised American generals for their failure in Afghanistan, saying the new US policy was ineffective because it was influenced by the generals who suffered defeat in Afghanistan.

“The Americans have devised a framework for their policy for South Asia, which is in fact focused on Afghanistan. It was devised by generals who have struggled in Afghanistan for the last 15 years. I do not think any policy can be made by people with that baggage and mindset,” he remarked."

Of course, the irony is clear, given the assumption that only US Generals could have created and followed failed policies.

Khawaja Asif was the wrong choice for foreign minister. There's a reason why he was previously defense minister. Put him somewhere he can't hurt anybody or anything. Is there anybody in PML-N who can handle foreign affairs?

The best choice would be DG ISPR, in my view.

What a way to spin things DAWN *slow claps* and no wonder "some" people got excited because of the title.

Did it occur to anyone that that might actually be the problem? According to the Constitution, whose responsibility is it to set foreign policy?

The civilian government. Somebody who is an elected official. Goes through the election process and is transparent and vocal and does not jeopardize national security by holding a work permit from another country.

But that is irrelevant here because Pakistani Army se badle jo nikaalne hain
