Lord Alexander Carlile

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's legal consultant Lord Alexander Carlile was denied entry into India on Wednesday for not having obtained the appropriate Indian visa.

Carlile, a British national, arrived in New Delhi airport on Wednesday without having obtained the appropriate Indian visa, said official spokesperson at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, reports UNB.

His intended activity in India was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application, said the official.

"It was therefore decided to deny him entry into India upon arrival," the spokesperson said in response to a query on denial of entry of Carlile into India.

It was reported earlier that he is unlikely to get entry into India as the country 'does not want to see any harm' in its ongoing friendly relations with Bangladesh.

Indian High Commission in Dhaka made a strong recommendation to New Delhi seeking non-entry of Lord Carlile who reportedly also sided with war criminals in the past, a diplomatic source in New Delhi said.

He was supposed to visit New Delhi and deliver speech through a press conference at Foreign Correspondents Club on July 13 which was cancelled.

Diplomatic sources said Carlile was planning to criticise Bangladesh's court verdicts and make statement against the Bangladesh government using India's land.

Bangladesh has been maintaining a policy of not allowing anybody to use its land by anybody against India.

Being informed about Carlile's plan, government officials had a meeting with officials of Indian High Commission in Dhaka and conveyed its observations, said a diplomatic source.

Both sides agreed that if Carlile makes any statement against Bangladesh government from New Delhi, it might create a problem in Dhaka-Delhi relations.

Lord Carlile, a member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament, is a barrister and one of the leading legal experts in the UK.

He was appointed by the UK wing of the party to advise Khaleda's legal team on 36 cases against Khaleda, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced on March 20.

The announcement came less than two months after Khaleda was sentenced to five years in jail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

. .
Bangladesh can't even produce a decent lawyer who can help Khaleda with her legal issue?

The case for which Khaleda was imprisoned is no longer the only issue as she got bail for that but just before getting bail government has shown her arrested against couple of so called cases which were filed against her by random people. So without getting bail against all those cases Khaleda can not come out of jail and by the time even if she can bail of those cases previous bails will be over. The end result is Khaleda Zia is still in the jail and likely will be in near future :laughcry:.

This gentleman has been appointed only to show flaws of the trial and court of Bangladesh at the international level which will put Bangladeshi government under pressure. So Bangladesh government will never allow him to come to Bangladesh.

Just like india can't even produce decent human beings who considers "rape" is a crime against humanity?

What about the high number of rapes in bangladesh? Your rape rates are highest in Asia. Also what about millions raped in 1971? There was no action against culprits.

India is a open society with women are doing everything. Most of the rape cases are reported in India and it is higher in Bangladesh which is a Muslim country. Million were mass raped in 1971 but no action taken.

I do not think you ever read about Vedas so please do not talk about it.

Yes you can. As I said India is a open society. I can give you 1000s of news of such cases for Germany US UK France etc. Because there also women has rights. But in Bangladesh very few cases are reported still number is high. I saw images of girls going to colleges in burqa. That is enough. Here they go in shorts.

visa is a privilege not a right, infact we dont need to give him any reason.

question is why the heck he came to India instead of directly going to BD?

Do you want me to quote Indian news itself?
go check the stats, BD has rape rate 5 times more than India.

Are you high or what? In Bangladesh most rapes are reported while in India it is not. I showed the tamil troll nilgiri with reference. As rape was discussed in detail. Someone even laughed seeing rape rate is lower than Canada when in Canada hardly there are news of rape. Whereas in India if someone open the newspaper see the news itself.

I will search the link and will share with you.

Can you give an official source to the qaranic data you just pulled out of your ***?

Estimates of unreported rapes[edit]
Most rapes go unreported because the rape victims fear retaliation and humiliation, both in India and throughout the world.[27] Indian parliamentarians have stated that the rape problem in India is being underestimated because a large number of cases are not reported, even though more victims are increasingly coming out and reporting rape and sexual assaults.[28] According to an estimate from 2014, only 5-6% of rape cases in India are reported to the police.[29]

Few states in India have tried to estimate or survey unreported cases sexual assault. The estimates for unreported rapes in India vary widely. A comparison between data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) in 2005 shows that 5.8% of rapes were reported.[30] Marital rape is not a criminal act in India.[31] Its been estimated that the women who faced sexual violence by their husbands was forty times the number of women who faced sexual violence by men they do not know.[32] Madiha Kark estimates 54% of rape crimes are unreported.[33] A UN study of 57 countries estimates just 11% of rape and sexual assault cases worldwide are ever reported.[34]
