Khaleda Zia is not getting the respect even the Pakistani army showed her when she was in their custody during the Liberation War, Oli Ahmad has remarked.

The decorated freedom fighter also showered the Pakistani occupation forces with praises for “maintaining their culture and standards during the war” at a news conference organised by the Jatiya Mukti Mancha in Dhaka on Friday.

The platform, headed by Liberal Democratic Party chief Oli, organised the event to demand the release of the BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda, who is in jail for corruption.

“Ms. Zia is a freedom fighter because she was a prisoner to the Pakistanis,” Oli, a former BNP leader and now a key ally of the party, said.

“Pakistani soldiers did many things, but they did not abandon their culture, standards. They showed Ms. Zia respect. But she is not getting that much respect from the people of her own country,” he remarked.

“Those whom we swear at through name-calling showed Ms. Zia the utmost respect. But those who claim themselves to be children of the Father of the Nation have no respect for the freedom fighters and their families,” Oli claimed.

Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the nation’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is heading the government after being re-elected for the fourth term in a huge defeat conceded by the BNP and its allies.

The former army colonel said the then governor-general of erstwhile East Pakistan Lt General AAK Niazi always considered the wives of his subordinate officers like Khaleda’s husband and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman as his daughters.

“Mr. Niazi was the first commanding officer of then Major Ziaur Rahman. First commander is like a father. So, the other officers of a battalion are like his (commander’s) sons and the officers’ wives are like his daughters,” Oli said.

Oli was awarded the Bir Bikram title for his gallantry during the war. He later played a role in forming the BNP under the leadership of Bangladesh’s first military ruler Zia after the assassination of Bangabandhu.

Oli had formed the LDP after falling out with the BNP as a policymaker of the party one and a half decades ago.

He recently launched the political platform of different BNP-allied parties amid differences with the BNP over its joining parliament despite it having rejected general election results.

None of the parties in the new bloc, however, has left the old BNP-led 20-Party Alliance.

Now that Khaleda is almost done with, is there anyone else to take her place other than the utterly incompetent Tarique? @bluesky @Atlas
I think @Atlas can give a good answer. He hates Khaleda for many genuine reasons but also loves Hasina Bibi for no reason at all. Just a blind love with a flute in his lips when she is burning the country's present and future with flames.

Why do you believe that BNP is the only alternative to AL? No one is forever and Khaleda Zia and her son paid the price of their crime.

Now look at your own country! BJP was established in 1980 and now won landslide victory consecutive two times!

Where does Congress stand now?

Better example should be Muslim league that was founded in Dhaka. It is also dead. Better example is PTI. They are in power of Pakistan!

Any other party or parties can rise again on the grave of BNP. Zia family is minus from politics already, and without Zia family what is BNP actually?

In 1991 all thought that AL will win. But that time BNP won and became a big team!

Now in two terms of power they are doomed! So other anti AL people will choose another party when they will rise!

Change is the nature of this world, so there is no wonder in this process! But you can bet, BNP is dead with it's leadership.. All they can do is movement after Eid. Even few days ago they declared it again that after Eid ul Azha they will start very strong movement ( usual rant from ages) , but only limited to statement.

BNP-founder Ziaur Rahman wanted to divorce his wife Khaleda Zia after the Liberation War, claims veteran journalist and writer Abdul Gaffar Choudhury. But Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman saved their marriage, he told a programme in London last week, reports Bangla Tribune. “When Khaleda Zia repeatedly refused to leave the Pakistan army-controlled cantonment, Gen Zia told me that he would divorce her after the war. But that did not happen thanks to Bangabandhu's intervention,” Gaffar said. The journalist also recalled his time spent with Zia in 1971 when speaking at a programme to unveil “Liberation War: Unknown Chapters” by Nadeem Qadir, press minister at Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Zia took part in the Liberation War as a sector commander, became the chief of army after independence and went on to become a military dictator after Bangabandhu's assassination. Bangabandhu's self-confessed killers Faruk and Col Abdur Rashid had told Anthony Mascarenhas that Zia knew about the coup beforehand. Zia, who went on to found the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, appointed Bangabandhu's killers at foreign missions after assuming power. He also gave Jamaat-e-Islami, the party which openly opposed independence, a chance to resume political activities in independent Bangladesh. Khaleda has been the BNP chief after her husband's assassination in 1981. She has maintained close ties with Jamaat and gave Cabinet berths to war criminals when she was the prime minister. In his book “Liberation War: Unknown Chapters,” Nadeem Qadir details his family's search for the grave of his father martyred Lt Col M Abdul Qadir. The grave of Lt Col Qadir's was finally found in 2007, eight years after the death of Nadeem's mother Hasna Hena Qadir. He was buried again with full state honour at Natore's Qadirabad Cantonment. Nadeem quotes his mother in the book as saying that Gen Zia had told Lt Col Qadir: “There is no guarantee that Bangladesh will win independence … I'm not with you.”

Pakistani army man Janjua had s.ex with her. Ziaur Rahman refused to take his wife back because of it. Later Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib ordered Zia to take his 'daughter' Khaleda Zia back to Zia's house.

I knew it
BJP's hard demands for Bangladesh are pushing it towards us

@Riyad, Bloody Malaun b*stard of BD, where did you get this small information? No one knew that you were shooting the video picture when they were doing sex. Make it viral.

"Hindu ka Baccha
Kavi nahin Accha"!!

Why do people have to believe in what that BAL Malaun AGA Chowdhury/Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury said? He is a Khash Chamcha of Hasina Bibi. His business is to propagate against BNP and its leaders. I am not saying Khaleda was a good administrator. But, you monkey said something without proof.

While Zia declared independence, finally Khaleda chose to stay in the cantonment with her other housewife friends instead of living in Chittagong. Do not you think it is a good reason for a divorce?

This @Riyad Hindu b*stard should be banned for life for assassinating the character of a political personality.
