With the state making remarkable strides in implementation of various e-governance initiatives, chief minister Oommen Chandy declared Kerala as the 'complete digital state'.

"The state has achieved 100 per cent mobile density, 75 per cent e-literacy, highest digital banking rate and broadband connection upto panchayat level," Chandy said in his 69th independence day speech at the Central Stadium here.

"The implementation of e-district programmes in all districts and linking of Aadhaar and bank accounts have laid a strong foundation for Digital Kerala.I am proud to declare the state as the complete digital state, based on these indicators," he said.

Government would set up wi-fi hotspots in all local self government institutions and implement complete mobile governance in the next phase to achieve the best results of the Digital Kerala initiative, he said.

The state government would launch an innovative programme in the name of Dr Kalam to enable the youth translate their innovative ideas into sucessful business ventures.

"Seeking to retain the memories of late A P J Abdul Kalam, the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment will launch a new youth programme titled Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Youth Challenge," he said.

The programme aims at creating at least one enterprise from state universities every year based on innovative ideas submitted by college students or groups of students, he said.

Seeking to check widespread exploitation of natural wealth and create mass awareness for their conservation, government plans to set up an inclusive development council, he said.

Detailing various programmes to be implemented in the state in the coming months, the Chief Minister said as many as one lakh houses would be constructed for the homeless.

"Mammoth development projects to the tune of Rs 16,000 crore, including Kochi Metro, Kannur Airport and Vizhinjam projects are becoming a reality in the state," he said adding that government would go ahead with the light metro projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.

Chandy earlier unfurled the national flag, inspected the guard of honour and accepted the salute from contingents including state police, the Fire and Rescue Service, NCC cadets, Scouts and Guides and from student Police cadets.

Besides giving away the President's police medals and medals for other meritorious service, he also distributed CM's Police medals, Fire and Rescue medals, Prison medals, Forest medals, Excise medals and Transport medals at the function.

I am not thalling..Kerala was literally a hell hole under the previous Hindu(Dharmic) dominated LDF government(I am not saying those peoples are Hindu believers,But vast majority were from hindu backgrounds)..It's only under the present chrislamist,we have been viewing such a mass rapid improvement in Kerala(in every spheres),yes we do made mistakes and faults but still way better than the previous Hindu dominated one, which backfired Kerala to 18 th century...
Sanghis in Kerala never appreciate anything good, they view each and every issues relating Kerala from religious angle..if they can,why couldn't we??

I read somewhere that Kerala has Lightning speed broadband connectivity in India.

why our south Asians leader only see developments which we can't see on grass root level ?

Well I would disagree .Both LDF & UDF are similar.Smart city is progressing at snails pace.Kochi metro too was delayed and it took Dr.E Sreedharan and a lot of protest for it to get back on track. This government is yet to make a policy decision on light metro projects.

Look at this - road development is going nowhere.Even with vallarpadom,Cochin port can't compete with Tuticorin .HSR have already been cancelled. The fate of much hyped Trivandrum Chengannur suburban service wouldn't be different.

I am a christian, but I would disagree with your 'chrislamist' concept.

Sanghis in Kerala never appreciate anything good, they view each and every issues relating Kerala from religious angle..if they can,why couldn't we??

Actually what do you mean by this post ?
Where the hell these religious shit came from ?
So far you gave a religious angle to a good development that is totally unrelated to religious stuff.

Why trying so hard to be a secular??..it has no future in Kerala or in India as a whole..
Smart city-First phase is going to be functional this very year,i think..
Kochi metro-Its going way faster than our neighboring metro rail projects,eg-Chennai metro took long 6 years for phase 1 completion..
Tuticorin-yes,Tamilnadu lobby is so strong you know,There are doing many such underground activities to delay, halt our projects (thanks to their unity, political will),last one conspiracy was against our Karipur airport for their Coimbatore airport..can't blame them for that..we should be more vigilant and focus more on these..
Roads-far better than the previous term, even roads in wayanad are improved a lot..
Trivandrum-Chengannur suburban-no clue about that,But DEMU services was already started in Kochi, connecting Aluva and Tripunithura..

sorry,if i offended you..
Right wing hindu groups are blaming us for each and every doings in Kerala,be it bad or evil,They keep saying that Kerala is not improving or still underdeveloped because of high Christian-Muslims population and are the ones, who are opposing anything and everything..Thats why i made that comparison..

As far as India remains a secular nation,I will remain secular

Smart city

still delayed.

Kochi metro-Its going way faster than our neighboring metro rail projects

Thanks to DMRC and L&T.But even then,Lucknow is faster.

Roads-far better than the previous term, even roads in wayanad are improved a lot..

Seriously ? Our roads are comparable to north east India. What about NHs under state PWD ? Land acquisition for NHs under NHAI ?.We don't even have a good quality 2 lane highway between our 3 major cities.

Trivandrum-Chengannur suburban-no clue about that,But DEMU services was already started in Kochi, connecting Aluva and Tripunithura..

DEMU is a fully IR funded venture, btw they already they switched back to ( ugly looking ) MEMU.

good for you.it gives you nothing but humiliation, questioning your ancestry,patriotism..
yes, lets wait some more he he..nokaam engane varumenu..ithrayum naal kaathirunille, kurachu koodi kshemikaam..
please, stop comparing with those in metro areas like Bangalore,Mysore,Covai or Chennai or NHs in Karnataka or TN..We don't have too much open lands along NHs for widening, unavailability of land is a major factor+population density, each and every places in Kerala looks like a mini town+land prices are skyrocketing even in small villages,so some difficulties..I am living near Karnataka-Tamilnadu border area, have been to each and every inches of both the sides..There are hundreds of areas in Karnataka and Tamilnadu, which lacks a single tar road(forget about its condition),public transport, water supply or a single government dispensary..Karnataka is not just Bangalore or Mysore..
again 'anti Kerala 'Tamilnadu lobby-unfortunately we are under Chennai, southern railway zone,(Both Karnataka and Andra had their own separate zones)..
