Kenyan Coast Guard Service (KCGS) commissions Bangladesh Made Ship

When a small 50m coast guard OPV, probably weighing around 700 tonnes with 1 20mm gun(manual) becomes a frigate in Bangladesh dictionary? Please explain.
We are already building a few. Do you think any shipbuilder will fit its ship with missiles if the order is to fit one gun? IN can order a few of the BD make ships. However, I read a newspaper report that said IN personnel is as dirty aboard a ship as they are on the land.

Newspaper report  ...it was originally posted on a blog and debunked several times by actual professionals.

Same goes for that tripadvisor "comment" stuff on Indian railways.

Why can't you just be happy that BD accomplished something here and not have to respond to clear trolling?

We all have seen just how dirty Bangladesh truly is....even its main international airport in that video with nice commentary lol (given its first port of entry for the few foreigners and businessmen that dare to visit). So can clearly see what rest of the country would be like. Such people with such low standards have no credibility on subject.

Lol. The technical integration to fit in a missile is the issue. You need to integrate an radar which can lock and fire missiles, integrate everything with a Battle Management System. And add to that the test jigs and fixtures to test each and every component that goes into a frigate.....

Pheeww... Only if making a frigate and fitting a missile into a ship as easy as you say.....

Only he knows why he said frigate, but Bangladesh is undertaking a project to build 6 frigate in it's shipyard with the technical collaboration with China. These 6 frigate are expected to be completed one by one within 2030.

i think BN should be go with western shipbuilders for indigenous frigate program, it will be cost effective but this is the first step for building heavy ships, so need to learn made quality products.

Dude we are not anywhere near building frigates. Heck we don't even produce naval grade steel. Let us not get ahead of ourselves by taking internet propaganda by you-know-who too seriously.

With all due respect - not all countries making frigates, need to make Naval grade steel. It depends on the amount of Naval buildup in one's Navy, like in China or India, where it starts making economic sense.

The amount of Naval steel plate needed for building a few frigates (in our case) can be imported from suppliers in France. India (recently), Japan, Korea and China are the only Asian countries with this capability.

Our private yards are importing these steel plates in aksaar fashion. :-)

What about the statements by BN officers?

Please provide link to ISPR statement/mainstream news article which says production has begun.

Our shipyards are yet to undergo the necessary expansion and upgrades to accomodate frigate production.

Bro we do not actually disagree here.

You can simply import the required steel to build a few frigates for the navy.

My prior comment regarding steel production was in the context of @bluesky recommending frigate export.

There is nothing so called naval or Maritime steel grade, all of it is misconception. Usually standard steel grade names fall into two categories:
  1. Steel specified by purpose of use and mechanical properties.
  2. Steel specified by chemical composition.
As example, in Indonesia PT krakatau steel producing grade ABS AH 36 steel (usually used for ship building and off shore activities ) and been supplied for Indonesia naval shipbuilder and rig building.

Not sure if the production has begun or not, but the project of building frigates locally is true.

Details can be seen here: https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/bangladesh-navy-indigenous-frigate-development-program.501481/

The facilities at CDDL also seem to be upgraded.

Read that thread before. All speculation based on Bdmilitary's speculation.

When things do not turn out as speculated, Bdmilitary just goes quiet about it. No real source provided.

If Bangladesh had launched a frigate program BAL would have gone bonkers to take credit for it.

Agree with ya except the last line. The frigate program has been confirmed multiple time by PM, her military advisor and other govt officials. And BN hasn't picked a any design yet, so how do you expect BAL to brag about this? How many times do we need to talk about this old thing. (-_-).

Brother please read the article. They have outlined their "goal" to build six frigates by 2030.

They have not even decided on the design or partner yet. On what planet is that called "launching"?

BN has to ready the dock first such an endeavour.

And here we are already offering frigates for export.

I already said that but some countries already proposed their offer.

That's @bluesky vai's problem. Only he knows why he said that.

Also let me correct myself about this part. All of us thought something based on Type-54 will come as Chinese option was the cheapest one. All the discussions in that thread were based on this.
