Kashmir people have peacefully chosen their destiny: India

United Nations, Sept 27 (IANS): Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and the State's people have "peacefully chosen their destiny in accordance with democratic practices" and "continue to do so", India has said in response to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari's remarks made at the UN.
Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, addressing a media briefing here on Wednesday, said India's position on Kashmir was well known. "Well, we have seen the reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the statement of the President of Pakistan. Our principled position on the issue has been consistent and is well known.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India, have peacefully chosen their destiny in accordance with democratic practices and they continue to do so," he said.

Zardari had said the issue of Kashmir was a "symbol of the failures" of the UN, and a resolution could only be arrived in an "environment of cooperation".

"Kashmir remains a symbol of the failures, rather than strengths of the UN system. We feel that resolution of these issues can only be arrived in an environment of cooperation," Zardari was quoted as saying in an address at the UN General Assembly.

.
And GoI would say that. Why is this even news?

.
I don't think even a reply was needed on the usual rant's of pakistani leader's about kashmir every now and then. Our position on this issue is clear and well known to everyone on this planet!

Best reply Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai could have said in just two freakin words is :-

"!!!~Keep Whining~!!!"

That's it!

India should not even have responded.

Kashmir is an integral part of India and not even a inch would be ceded!

If you are so confident Mr. Foreign secretary, lets arrange a referendum under UN'S watch. Like the idea? ;)

Even if referendum is held in Kashmir it would not solve Kashmir. Pakistan then would just say that it is Indian complicit, and it is to square one.

If Pakistan doesn't want any relationship with India without Kashmir, it is fine with us and we can live with that.

And same for India if results are not according to their wishes, no?

Same goes for us.
