Dear i know J&K was a princely state. But the arguement is Poonch and GB were invaded by Dogra ruler with support of Maharaja Ranjit singh and they integrated these states in J&K. So conclusion is princely state J&K wants to remain independent and others states which was illegly invaded by Maharaja of Kashmir wanted independence from kingdom.J and K was a princely state . Bought by fore fathers of King ( not sure who that guy was ) from British .
Poonch and GB are considered parts of J and K .
He was the King of J and K .
Kicked and oppresed Bania you mean. I see.He wasnt even from Kashmir he was from himanchal pradesh
Well thats your version our version is different
In the spring of 1947, an uprising against the Maharaja had broken out in Poonch, an area bordering the Rawalpindi division of the West Punjab. Maharaja's administration is said to have started levying punitive taxes on the peasantry which provoked a local revolt and the administration resorted to brutal suppression. The area's population, full of recently demobolised soldiers from the Second World War, rebelled against the Maharaja's forces and gained control of almost the entire district. Following this victory, the pro-Pakistan chieftains of the western Jammu districts of Muzaffarabad, Poonch and Mirpur proclaimed a provisional Azad Jammu and Kahmir government in Rawalpindi on 3 October, 1947.

Ruler of J&K decided to stay independent but residents of poonch who were fighting for independence since 1819 created a mess.
This is what I have heard ,
When Partition happened , West-East Pakistan and India were created .
This partitioned Pakistan neither had Balochistan nor J and K .
One of the Kings of Baloch was against joining Pakistan and the King of J and K decided to stay independent .
Any Truth ???
At partition , India had more than 550 princely states . They were given option of Joining India , Pakistan or stay independent . As the thread is limited to Kashmir . Lets focus on it .
Kashmir decided to stay independent . Indian and Pakistan acknowledged that .
Kashmir signed an agreement with Pakistan , according to which Pakistan will keep its forces away from the border and a path was open by Pakistan for easy Postal services .
After few months , Pakistan betrayed Independent Kashmir and attacked Kashmiri territories .
As Kashmir was loosing its Independence , its King signed agreement with India , Joined India and gave his citizens special rights before joining India .
Since then , Kashmir has become a dispute between India and Pakistan .
Those who call themselves Azad Kashmiris are actually the people who are occupied illegally .
So Who is responsible for this mess ???
@SarthakGanguly , Enlighten me more on this ???
@vayuputhra @dadeechi @ranjeet @HariPrasad @nair

Ok Whole Jammu and KAshmir. What about the status of other states specifically Poonch and Gilgit Baltistan which were illegally occuped by Maharaja of Kashmir.?
Many had to migrate outside their native lands too during the great famine

Isn't it disheartening !!! Kashmiris , be it Hindus , Muslims or Buddhists . We have always been oppressed , sometimes by others and sometimes by our own people

80,000 muslims of poonch were joined British army and were veteran of World war 1 and 2. Most of them were highly decorated and were awarded Victoria crosses, OBE and IOBM medals for their extraordinary valour and bravery.
These brave men were against Maharaj of Kashmir and they started rebellion against him in year 1947, cause independence of Azad KAshmir and GB.
