ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said that Kashmir is the backbone Pakistan and the government would continue to support Kashmiris on political and diplomatic grounds.
President Zardari expressed these views during meeting with former Prime Minister Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and PPP Central leader AJK Chapter Barrister Sultan Mahmood at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The Spokesperson of Barrister Sultan Mahmood told both the leaders discussed the planning to hold campaign about upcoming elections and they discussed in detailed the long-standing dispute of Kashmir.
Barrister Sultan Mahmood informed the President regarding the overall political situation of AJK.
President Zardari said that Pakistan always played its pivotal role and doing its best to resolve the Kashmir dispute with India. Pakistan wants the solution of Kashmir according to the UN resolutions.
He added that the solution of Kashmir is indispensable for durable peace in the region. While Pakistan would provide all possible support to AJK in order to complete its development schemes.
