Kashmir: Indian Rights group hold demo in Delhi against Gool massacre

Srinagar, July 20 (KMS): New Delhi based human rights group and activists will hold a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi tomorrow (Sunday) against the killing of four civilians by Indian troops in Ramban area of occupied Kashmir.Mission Bhartiyam (MB), a group of students and professionals working in the fields of peace, harmony, protection of human rights and environment, has planned the demonstration. “It is the time when we must raise our voice against injustice. It is the time when we have to be together to resist the special powers and impunity,” said a statement issued by the MB.

The organization has previously been involved in movements related to occupied Kashmir including the protest against the judicial murder of Afzal Guru.

Devika Mittal, a core member of the group told a Srinagar-based English daily that the objective of the protest was to condemn this inhuman act. “I was very shocked and even ashamed that such a thing is happening in the world’s largest democracy,” she said adding that sad reality was that most of the Indians didn’t even know what the Indian army was doing in occupied Kashmir.

“All they know is that Kashmir is our land. What they care about is not the people of Kashmir but a piece of land called Kashmir,” said Mittal, who has been freelancing on Kashmir issue, North-East India and Indo-Pak relations. She added that India had failed to afford the basic rights to the people of Kashmir just to save its so-called integrity. “New Delhi has failed to give them justice but what is more tragic is that, it is trying to force them and torture them to surrender,” she stated.

As per the organizers, the sole motive of the demonstration is to demand inquiry into the Ramban massacre so as the guilty are punished and to revoke draconian law, Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFPSA), from the occupied territory.

“The protest demonstration we are calling for is not as Indians but as humans,” said Varun Kumar, a MB member and an activist of leftist students’ organization, All India Students Association (AISA).

MI should immediately start tracking for the funding and backing of this group Mission Bharatiyam.

Why do I smell a rat whenever there is some sort of an incident like this?

.
In a democracy they have a right to peaceful protest. and none of us can deny that there have been mistakes on the part of our forces.

Should Indian intelligence agencies start monitoring any group which speaks out against government or military action ? If so, shouldn't the Indian constitution be torn up and thrown into the dirt bin ? We should give full support to these groups. At least they have the conviction to demand answers

As long as they are not pelting stones and rampaging Indian resources, there voice will be respected.....
@Topic: The NGOs and Human Right group must act after detail investigations. Does this group heard voice of injured BSF Jawans??

Stone pelting will be tolerated at Israel and Pakistan, not in India...
