Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday offered a job in a government hospital to Mohammed Haneef, who was set free by Australian authorities after exonerating him of the terrorism charges.
Speaking to reporters after a brief meeting at Chief Minister's official residence, Krishna, Haneef said "I will keep my options open at this point of time" and would think about the offer and get back to government.
Haneef said he would discuss the offer with his family and respond later.
Kumaraswamy said he was very happy that an "innocent and respectable person, who was harassed, has been released."
Haneef's lawyer in Australia Peter Russo and his relative Imran Siddiqui accompanied him during the meeting.
