Eight people were wounded as they resisted snatching attempts in different parts of the metropolis on Friday and Saturday.

Four brothers were shot and injured as they tried to fight off six men who were robbing their house in the Yousuf Goth locality of Baldia Town in the wee hours of Saturday.

Saeedabad acting SHO Ali Haider said six men barged into the house at 2am, adding that the residents of the house woke up and started crying for help.

Haider said all the family members woke up and attempted to fight off the robbers, adding that the suspects opened fire on the occupants and injured four brothers.

He said the police reached the house and took the wounded to the Civil Hospital Karachi, adding that the brothers were identified as 30-year-old Aqeel Saleem, 28-year-old Zubair, 27-year-old Anwar and 23-year-old Sohail.

The SHO said Anwar’s condition was declared serious because he was shot in the abdomen and back, while Sohail was shot in the foot, Aqeel in the back and arm and Zubair in the head.

He added that the robbers escaped from the scene of the crime, leaving behind a repeater. He said the police had confiscated the weapon and collected other evidences from the house to start their investigation.

A day earlier, four people were shot and injured in two separate incidents of street crimes. Gunmen opened fire on a 45-year-old man and his two sons at the Usmanabad UC office.

A Garden police official said Waseem Khairullah and his two sons, 27-year-old Waseem and 22-year-old Nabeel, were shot and injured when they resisted a bid to snatch their mobile phones.

In another incident, another 45-year-old man was injured by armed men near a girls’ college in Nazimabad Town.

A Rizvia police official said Shaikh Asif Riaz and Ziauddin were shot and injured when they resisted a bid to snatch their car.

A day before that, a man was shot dead and another injured by muggers in two incidents. A 35-year-old man was killed by robbers in PECHS Block-VI. In another incident, muggers injured an 18-year-old boy near Cheel Chowk.
