Kamal Nath, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister said, "I have been told how administrative powers are being misused especially in this district." Far away from the National Capital in the rural hinterland of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath holding out a warning to bureaucrats and the police, "I would tell the police to show respect for its uniform. I would tell every police officer to respect their uniform. It would be an insult if police don't respect their uniform. It would be insulting the organisation for which they have taken oath. My only request to the police is that they respect their uniform."
Union Minister caught on camera warning the bureaucracy ahead of the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, openly going on to threaten Government employees with a political vendetta. Kamal Nath said, "I want to tell every Government officer to listen to me carefully. There is no doubt that the Congress will form the government. When the Congress forms a government in another 50 days, then every Government employee who has acted like a BJP worker will be held accountable." Seven weeks before polls in Madhya Pradesh, senior Congress leaders threat to Government employees is being challenged by the BJP.
Meenakshi Lekhi, Spokesperson, BJP said, "No, the other way of saying this is what he is speaking but the other way of saying is be Congress agents. The way they have misused CBI, IB and several such agencies, so this threat is not that anybody is working as BJP agents but this threat is to make them as Congress agents. So the Congress practice is to convert the people who are working for the country as a responsible bureaucracy into their own fiefdom and make them satraps of their fiefdom." For the Congress which was severe in criticising Akhilesh Government in Uttar Pradesh for suspension of IAS Officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, Kamal Nath's threats to the bureaucracy have struck a jarring note.
