KALEKALIP will produce all parts of the F-135 engines

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW -- Pratt & Whitney and Kale Havacilik San, A.S., (Kale Group) of Istanbul, Turkey, announced the formation of a joint venture partnership to produce aircraft engine components today at the Farnborough Airshow. Under the terms of the joint venture, Kale will own 51 percent and Pratt & Whitney will own 49 percent of the joint venture company located in Turkey. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX - News) company.

The joint venture will specialize in manufacturing hardware for the F135 engine powering the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. In the future, the partnership will expand to support highly complex metal fabrications and spare parts for Pratt & Whitney military fighter engine models F100 and F119, and military transport engine model F117.

Is that mean Turkey will be able to build their own engine for F-35

or limited only to several spare parts?



my Congrat to turkish brother, not much country in this world offered by LM to build jet engine or just parts of engine...

Many parts of F35s will be produced in Turkey, it means most of the money spent for F35 will remain in Turkey also this parts will be sold to other countries that going to use F35

Someo of this birds parts will come from America and will be assembled with other parts in TAI Offset is over %100 in this project...

Minister Zafer Çağlayan, who met UTC executives during his visit to the United States last week, said the company started talks with KaleKalıp last year. "They will sign a deal next week," Çağlayan said. "At first, KaleKalıp will manufacture more than 90 percent of F-135 engines, and later they will manufacture all of them."
