‘Kalabagh Dam vital for resolving energy crisis’ Imran Khan

LOLZ. Imran Khan trying to hide behind the imaginary Kalabagh Dam after his recent humiliation. LOLZ.

Well if he is serious about it, he should say it in a gathering in Nowshera or Peshawar. I would love the scene afterwards.

He would never dare say this in KPK. He would continue to blabber about it to appease Punjab voters.

Every drowning leader plays the kalabagh dam card...

Trust me, if PTI is able to take a stance and support the federal government for the construction of Kalabagh... and if it happens... I would vote for PTI again for this single point agenda

I think PTI is quite clear that it does support KB Dam, and i am quite certain that it can carry KPK through as they have largely ended ANP's Political Dynasty. The problem is not KPK, its Sindh lead by PPP. PPP needs to drum this issue up to keep its Politics alive.

The last time Kalabagh issue was raised, ANP were giving examples of East Pakistan and clearly warning the government of consequences if they tabled the resolution in the parliament for Kalabagh.

The real problem lies with ANP whose foundation were laid upon the opposition of Kalabagh dam politics. PPP under the rule of Benazir also had reservations but that is mainly due to fear of Sindh government's share of water which I believe could have been resolved in appropriate manner.

If you see the current leadership of PPP, Most of the stakeholders belong to Punjab and all of them agrees for the construction of Kalabagh dam. The problem lies with Benazir's decade old stance (ego factor) and her family's inheritance of politics from her. The other problem lies within the Sindh government's fear even though the same government had ruled over Punjab and the whole of Pakistan as many times as non-Punjabi governments of Pakistan and could have dealt with the matter more appropriately if they were serious about it.

I think the only reason why it's not getting built is that we have at least 5-8 mega projects awaiting in the pipeline and WAPDA's prime focus is to complete construction of those projects first. Upon the completion of these mega projects, Kalabagh would be just like 5% of total energy output and availability of water accumulated by these major dams combined.

.
Who is stopping them. Move resolution in the assembly, Damn, we need minimum two Kala bagh dams in 2025 , our energy requirement is increasing very fast ...
Nation is half dead now and still talk & talk only but no practical step.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Tuesday that by not building dams in country present and previous governments have left the people at the mercy of floods every year.

While speaking to media, he said that country can be steered out of the energy crisis if Kalabagh Dam is constructed. But all the political parties have ignored the dam to serve their own interests. He said the people are forced to face the consequences of the PPP and PML-N governments’ negligence.

Imran instructed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to complete the flood prevention plan and to improve the mechanism for distribution of relief supplies. He added that the KP government should prepare a plan to deal with the flood situation in Chitral and possible flood situation that could develop in other areas as well. He also directed the provincial government to impose emergency in Chitral over flood situation.

Meanwhile, the PTI chairman in a statement instructed KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and provincial ministers to visit the flood affected areas forthwith and extend all possible help to affectees. He further directed the provincial government to provide basic amenities to the flood affectees immediately.

He stated that the estimate of loss caused by flash flood should be worked out and all possible assistance be provided to the people entrapped in flood-hit areas. He added that the federal government should extend cooperation to the KP government in dealing with the prevailing flood situation in Chitral.

‘Kalabagh Dam vital for resolving energy crisis’

so was proving rigging to get our country a better and refined political setup... so this too would be politicized and all the status quo vultures will attack Imran Khan.

How important is this dam to Pakistan ??? Like is it something more than just a normal dam ?

In summer Pakistan has excessive water in sindh, swat and Kabul rivers, this one dam can add more than 20 thousand of land under arigation and will also alow save the water for winter, on the top it will generate around 3.5 gw of electricity might requires next 7 years to build. But it will effect much flood, but is vital in term of arigation and electricity.

In 1997, Punjab raise the voice for decreasing their share water just for helping this damn cause, but was rejected by kpk, sindh and Baluchistan assemblies, all together.. So don't see it will happen until these assemblies again pass a resolution to build it.

Imran khan is following lip service nothing more.

Kalabagh dam site is very natural for dam. With less money, we can get a large dam and higher generation which 3rd most benefit is preventing floods. Most of initial work like survey etc is already completed. Provinces just sit together and starting work is required

.
If 2 provinces are opposing it . We should forget it . We can build new dams . Bhasha dam is important too . If this dam is completed it will generate 4500mw of electricity
And will store an extra 8,500,000 acre feet (10.5 km3) of water .

Bunji is a better candidate interm of electricity. But i extremely think they should have a dam on river kabul may be extension of warsak that can store good amount of water and generate electricity same time and a dam on river chenab, which will be the biggest challenge for engineers of today. Both are extremely required, but no body is even care to look into these issues..

.
Kala Bagh & Bhasha dam are desperately needed to store water & resolve energy crises.

IK forgot about terrorist political party ANP who are the main obstacle in Kala Bagh dam.

If he can pass the resolution in KPK Assembly, no body can do anything. Even if ANP try no body is gonna take Government heads on. Due to terrorism and electricity KPK people will avoid conflict with Government on this issue. This will make PTI even stronger in KPK and weakening ANP.

Basically, these politicians has few acre of lands closed to river which they think gonna drawn, but in reality the major reservoir will be created on miles of free land closed to Indus river.

.
He is just playing dirty politics again. Just like he said he'll make a Hazara province after getting elected.

.
You are right, the only way forward for Kalabagh is if the KPK Assembly passes out a resolution paving the way for Federal Government to take action upon. I think it should have been done when the both Federal and KPK Government came in power so both political parties has apparently supported the construction of Kalabagh dam. PPP of 2015 has mixed opinion of it where many of its frontline leaders support it, its head and segments of leadership in Sindh opposes it
Now's a good time to let it pass coz lets face it sind govt has run away the train is running away without a driver. Its like that denzil washington film unstoppable

Aise bande ko Punjabi main crack kehte hain... Aye banda crack aye

We don't need half-mad people to rule the nation as there are so many major decisions which you have to take and Imran is too stubborn to ever compromise on his self-idolised vision. The last I heard he is still talking about negotiating with TTP as claimed in another thread posted on PDF, that is when Pakistan has moved beyond TTP and is now TTP is almost extinct.

There was a time when only PML-N used to support Kalabagh dam and the resolution against them dam were passed in all 3 remaining provinces. We witnessed so much tension due to this back in 1990s so I believe PML-N is trying to be at safe position by not pursuing Kalabagh again when you already have alternatives available.

The only reason Kalabagh is not being pursued so seriously is because we have other pending projects to complete, we already have Diamer Bhasha, Dasu, Bunji, Neelum Jhelum so many other dam and hydropower projects in the pipeline which requires billions of dollars. They probably don't want to open another pandora box anytime soon.

The most ideal time for Kalabagh was 2013/14 after a decade when there was a hope of revival for this project. That is because the most stern opposer of Kalabagh had been ANP that was completely wiped out of K-P government and PTI had openly supported this project too. Pehle only Punjab-centric parties were the supporter of Kalabagh but now we had Abdul Malik in Balcohistan who would have nullified older resolution and passed in Balochistan (and they got nothing to do with this project), PTI in KPK and PML-N in Punjab. The only opposer would have been Sindh and half the leadership of PPP is also convinced about making of Kalabagh dam
There is no such thing as the right time!!
Should do it right now
Also about imran being too strict atleast he doesnt bend to the wishes of modi the terrorist . About ttp and dialogue , he is anti war as am i . Even the mighty us is talking with haqqani and taliban . Go figure!

Ppp is long gone nobody here
