more importantly, what happened to the NAB bill? that was supposed to make it more autonomous and powerful. if I remember correctly, PPP govt was criticized for delaying it.

Competent and honest he may be, but this trend is worrying. Appointing retired judges everywhere. I think we may even see Iftikhar Chaudhary fixed somewhere after retirement.

Secondly, appointing retired people everywhere gives the impression of an old home, we need dynamic and bold people, not old people. No offence to any old person or Mr Bhagwandas. They are retired for a reason.

PTI on appointment of Chairman NAB: Dr Shireen Mazari

On the issue of the NAB Chairman's appointment, Dr Shireen Mazari stated that PTI had the highest regard and admiration for Justice (retd) Bhagwandas. Dr Mazari said, "We recognise he is a gentleman with excellent credentials and commitment and has done Pakistan proud."

However, Dr Mazari added, PTI's position is that making individual-specific alterations in the laws/Constitution is not acceptable as it undermines norms, rules and procedures for the future by setting a precedence that others may exploit politically. Therefore, Dr Mazari concluded, to seek to alter prevailing norms in order to accomodate Justice (retd) Bhagwandas as NAB Chairman would be doing a great injustice to Justice (retd) Bhagwandas himself since he has always upheld norms, rules and procedures.
