The Jordanian peacekeeping forces in Ivory Coast have provided a safe shelter for more than 700 persons from Lebanon, Morocco, Egypt, Mauritania, Korea and local citizens in addition to UN and international relief agencies staff.
Ivory Coast is facing escalating unrest following the presidential elections there, which forced hundreds of foreign residents to seek safe shelters.
The Jordanian forces have provided them with protection, humanitarian aid, food and medical assistance until they can be safely evacuated to their countries.
