Jordan on Saturday assured India of its support for New Delhi’s candidature for United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and its stand on reforms of the international body.
This was conveyed by King Abdullah-II to visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at their “restricted meeting” at the Presidential Palace here.

Both the heads of nations also discussed the issue of terrorism during their talks but did not specifically mention the threat posed by the Islamic State.

Jordan is in the forefront of the fight against the IS. “King Abdulla II fully supports the UN reforms and fully justifies India’s position,” Anil Wadhwa, Secretary (East) of Ministry of External Affairs, told reporters after the meeting. During their meeting, Mukherjee stressed on the importance of the King’s speech in the UN General Assembly on the need for fighting terrorism, which has “no respect for any religion”.

He said he shared the views of King Abdulla.

When the issue of Indian workers facing trouble in Jordan was raised, King Abdulla was “extremely positive” and told Mukherjee that he would look at creating a system where the Royal Court and Indian Embassy work together to find solutions.

“Though the number of Indian workers are small in number, it is possible that there are abuses but there should be early warning systems and the Royal Court and the Indian embassy would work together,” King Abdullah-IIwas quoted as saying.

To be true!! there will be no genuine expansion of permanent members in UNSC.
Its a sham lurking for years and we are front runners buying this BS.

Building a consensus around the world is not hurting India's cause at all. One way or another the UNSC has to reform itself, the pressure is building up bit by bit and a 2/3rds vote in the UNGA can force the issue.

India is playing the long game.

We have to lay the groundwork for the future. Everyone knows it is not possible immediately, only gradual and consistent pressure will help. Nothing in this world will fall into your lap without the necessary efforts.

Thank You Jordan

non permanent members will be increased through democratic way. most of the world don't support Indian stance. a complete block opposing this stance is present.

.
UN has become a joke now... UNSC wields zero influence to stop any small or major wars between even weak nations in Africa.... Time will come for new world order soon
