The photo of the founder of nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah put up at an event in India’s Faizabad jail has left ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Hindu extremist party Vishva Hindu Parishad fuming.

The photo was put up at the event on Wednesday. The event was held to mark the martyrdom day of freedom fighter Ashfaqulla Khan and was organized by Communist leader Surya Kant Pandey.

The event was attended by former Uttar Pradesh governor Ashish Qureshi.

Other photos put up along with Jinnah were those of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Tipu Sultan, Bahadur Shah Zafar and others.

Reacting to the event, VHP spokesman Sharad Sharma termed it a ‘a great crime’, and called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take action -- against both the organisers and the prison administration.

Poet and professor of literature Anil Singh, who was present in the event, said it was very necessary for everyone to know the history.

"Jinnah was the person who fought the case of martyr Bhagat Singh and many other revolutionary freedom fighters and he did not charge any fees. His contribution is same in freedom struggle as of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and other great leaders. So putting up of Jinnah's photo is the tribute we pay to him."

The organisers said Jinnah had a great role in the freedom struggle and he is a part of India's 'saajha sanskriti' and 'saajhi virasat' (shared culture and heritage).

"The history of India's freedom struggle is incomplete without Jinnah, he had great role in the freedom movement and we must give credit to Jinnah for his contribution in the battle of Independence," Pandey said.

We have room to discuss , Jinnah struggle for Indian freedom against British rule never receive any recognition. Gandhi promoted due to his faith and Britisher special attention. Where Jinnah being a muslim never receive any good will from the majority of Hindu leadership in Congress. It is fact, Quaid struggle for the freedom from British rule never appreciated. Later , after elections , Jinnah realize that after the end of British rule, muslim won't be treated well. Because , majority of elected Hindu congress leaders had more inclination to fully revive Hindu religion in all institutions and give Muslims a minority status or second class citizen .
Later on mullah hijack the country, which was created for religious freedom for all citizens of Pakistan.

Rather than fuming at Jinah, BJP should be a supporter of Jinah.

Well said brother ,jinnah along with few others deserved the most credit for indian independence movement. At the end a nationalist was turned into a separatist because of hindu leadership hypocrisy of that time and this is the reason few people know about his valuable contributions for the indian subcontinent.Gandhi and nehru should not called heroes in this regard.
Jinnah was the only politician who selflessly fought for the indian subcontinent.

You just said nothing but a plain and simple truth but unfortunately at a wrong place at a wrong time :)
My views are similar to yours and we often get labelled as some libtard, secular kaffir or a agent on foreign agenda. Thanks to years of distorted history and religious indoctrination historical truth has little value in this country.

I think majority of our fellow brothers either don t ponder or afraid to speak the truth...Now unfortunately religion is medium to rule and silent the opponents.

Where did you learn that?
Sangh Shiksha Varg?

I think Mr. Jinnah had the similar compliance/role as what Mr. Rajeev Gandhi or Mr. Modi had in 1984 Sikh and 2002 Gujarat riots respectively.

Now read it from neutral some source.

Read the excerpt below.

After weeks of behind-the-scene negotiations, on July 29, 1946, at the prompting of its leader [Muhammad Ali Jinnah->article80], the Muslim League adopted a resolution rejecting the May 16th plan and called on Muslims throughout India to observe a “Direct Action Day” in protest on August 16.

FYI, the Direct action day was the immediate trigger for all Partition related Violance and it is very well documented by countless number of sources across the world. :(:(:(

I don't think you have read it properly

From the source you yourself provided:

..Jinnah had called for peaceful demonstrations all over India on Direct Action Day,...

B- The Instigators

Controversy still rages about the respective responsibilities of the two main communities, the Hindus and the Muslims, in addition to individual leaders’ roles in the carnage. The dominant British view tends to blame both communities equally and single out the calculations of the leaders and the savagery of the followers, amongst whom there were criminal elements (Tuker, 1950). In the Congress’ version of the events (Bose, 1968), the blame tends to be squarely laid on the Muslim League and in particular on the Chief Minister of Bengal, [Suhrawardy->article82]. The view from the Muslim League side, nowadays partly upheld in Bangladesh, the successor state to East Pakistan, is that in fact Congress and the Hindus used the opportunity offered by Direct Action Day to teach the Muslims in Calcutta a lesson and kill them in great numbers (Rashid, 1987). Thus, the riots opened the way to a partition of Bengal between a Hindu-dominated Western Bengal including Calcutta, and a Muslim-dominated Eastern Bengal (nowadays Bangladesh).

He initially was a follower of Gokhale and Tilak. Calling Jinnah a freedom fighter though is a bit fanciful. Unlike Gandhi, Nehru, Patel etc. from what I know the man did not spend a single day in a British prison fighting for freedom.
