LAHORE: Irrigation officials said on Tuesday that the Project Management Office was collaborating with the World Bank to renovate the Jinnah Barrage.

The barrage is located on the Indus near Mianwali. Officials said the Irrigation Department had also inked a deal with the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand to train 20 engineers in water engineering and management.

The engineers will be sent to Thailand to equip them with superior technical skills. They called on Irrigation Secretary Saif Anjum on Tuesday. Anjum felicitated them and said the government had provided them with a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity to pursue studies at a world renowned institution.

In a statement, irrigation officials said water development was a top agenda of the government and a number of schemes had been started in this regard. They said the project would be implemented according to international standards. They said Jinnah Barrage was an important asset of the government and its maintenance was crucial.

Gov should focus on making new barrages small dams and obviously big Dams to store water

The engineers will be sent to Thailand to equip them with superior technical skills.

So a nuclear power cannot even properly train its own engineers in "water engineering and management" and will send them to Thailand(!) of all places to learn "superior" technical skills. For a frigging BARRAGE?! With foreign aid money?!

Dude. Tension not. Being a nuclear power itself means that all these technologies are a cake walk.
