JH-7B is the newest variant of the JH-7A. It is a stealthy variant with WS-12B engines, internal weapons bay, AESA radar, DSI intakes, and much more. First flight was achieved in 2009.

There are hundreds of articles on it in Chinese Internet.

Each month I hear news that China is working on a new 'stealth' aircraft or otherwise conventional aircraft, by now there has probably been a dozen or more different aircraft that China has/is supposedly working on. No doubt some are a reality but there is no way that any country can have that many programs all at once, even more perplexing is the notion of having so may different platforms many of which have the same roles

On one of the Chinese message boards, they have this monthly "JH-7B" thread to mock all these stealth-version rumors :rofl:

So far the only officially proved stealth project is the JXX in 611 insititute Chendu.This is some fan boys dream.Plus Xian is busy on Y20 heavy transporter project,I doubt if they have additional energy to work on JH7.

Most of these are simply developments or modifications of previous fighters (they are not "fully stealth", unlike J-13/14), so development takes only 2 years:
- JH-7A --> JH-7B
- JF-17 --> YFC-1E
- J-11B --> J-11D/E

The only "new" stealth fighters are J-13 and J-14. Not too bad on CAC and SAC.

Why don't you watch this video and pause at 0:43. That's the nose the so-called "rumored" JH-7B. That video was released by XAC for the JH-7A promotion.

And please take a kind look at the photos, especially the one of the officials looking at the model.

And even if there are no photos, they will be released. The J-10A photos were released eight years after the first flight.

And the Boeing F/A-XX has no photos, either.

Seems like the officials are keeping close guard on these projects...

Keeping them tight secrets and releasing them sporadically on amateur defence forums? That is no way to inspire confidence, if that is what they hope to achieve.

Let me tell you a story.

In 1998, the J-10A made its first flight. At that time, people thought that China was decades away from achieving such level of technology.

In 2003, the J-10A entered active service, yet the government didn't release it. People always thought that the J-8 was China's best fighter at that time. All "supposed" photos of the J-10A were labeled as "fakes". J-10A was just a "wet dream", says netizens.

In 2006, the J-10A was declassified. Analysts around the world expressed shock because they didn't expect that China has such technology to build the J-10A. Within minutes, the internet was buzzing about the news of the J-10A.

The JH-7B is in the same position as the J-10A was in 1998.
