Japan's new Lithium Ion batteries 3000 Tons submarine

Today i saw a news regarding new submarine inducted in Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force. Mitsubishi Heavy industries has built this 3000 tons submarine. In news they said its diesel electric submarine along with Lithium Ion batteries onboard with enhanced performance. Can some one shed light on this new technical advancement. what kind of role can batteries play in enhancing the performance of the submarine. And how this service can be adoptive for Pakistan Navy. thanks.. and please no trolling its not my service field. Ok Sir, are these Li Ion batteries made any significant performance enhancement of submarine.because in video they said earlier version used lead acid batteries.

Li Ion are always better in performance and don't need much maintenance but they are certainly more expensive. They are also more compact meaning more energy storage less space.
