Japan and Israel are preparing to conduct joint research on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to Kyodo news agency.
The preparations are in the final phase and the two governments have sounded out their defence industries about the feasibility of participating in the project, the media outlet quoted Japanese and bilateral diplomatic sources as saying on 1 July.
Japan's National Security Council is likely to endorse the plan as the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been reinforcing relations with Israel, Kyodo quoted the sources as saying.
