I would go further to say that the loosening of the position in the Eastern Theater is more because of emergence of new powers (stronger nations) more than the fall of the US strength. we have India, Japan, Australia, even Korea and Vietnam emerging out of their previous "shells" to be strong enough on their own.

In a way, that is a long term solution - for the eastern allies to be strong enough to deter any minor skirmishes - while any major issues will draw the USN into the picture.

Its not fall in US Strength, but fall in USA's will.

The Obama administration's attempt to reach out to China, has been perceived as weakness and resulted in greater Chinese assertiveness in the region.

Obama's administration has learnt it the hard way just like India, Australia and Japan.

But if the 3s combine their armies, the outcome would be different. both UK and France have nuclear powered subs, the Vangard and Le Triomphant class, carrying nuclear missiles.
