Like I said : Back then "Human Rights record" was not a measuring stick.
Africa ??? Africa has no influence in the world.
Im not talking about back then im speaking of the present sense in regards to China's Human rights record.
Im not sure if you know how the UN works, let me give you a little lesson, all the member states have a vote which they use to decide who they want elected in the UN SC similar say to an olympic bid. So when the UN is finally restructed all these small island nations and african states each have a vote they can cast if they want Japan, India, Brazil etc
India has been elected to a key committee that controls the purse strings of the United Nations, which has an annual budget of nearly $ 22 billion.
In this vote India got the highest number of 164 votes out of a total of 570, which according to Hardeep Singh Puri, India's envoy to the UN, is the highest number of votes received by a candidate.
Besides India, candidates from
China,
Japan and
Pakistan all stood for the elections for the Asian region.
This should tell you every vote counts and India has more friends in NAM and Africa.
