Japan and France have signed an agreement in Tokyo to strengthen defence trade and technology ties, the Japan Ministry of Defense (MoD) has said.
The accord was signed on 13 March during a joint meeting of Japanese and French foreign and defence ministers, and builds on a memorandum of understanding signed by the two countries in Paris in May 2014.
While the new agreement does not outline any new joint programmes, it does reiterate the two countries' willingness to participate in collaborative projects to develop and produce unmanned underwater vehicles and robot technologies as well as work together in cyber defence.
