Jamaat al Daawas Shining Moment
ISLAMABAD, PakistanThe Jamaat al-Daawa, one of the most active grassroots charity operations in Pakistan, receives one more boost for its credibility today when tens of civil society activists join some of the victims of the 2005 earthquake in Azad Kashmir in a peaceful protest today, Friday, on the streets of the Pakistani capital.
Some of the Pakistani Balochis who suffered from this years quake in southwestern Pakistan have also expressed interest in traveling to Islamabad from remote hamlets to be present in the peaceful protest.
The protestors, including poor Pakistanis who received artificial limbs through the charitys free medical camps across northern Pakistan, in addition to poor students who have been provided a chance at modern western-style education at Daawas chain of schools across the country, will voice anger at how the joint Indian-American politically motivated Security Council resolution has resulted in shutting down humanitarian facilities.
The protest will launch itself immediately after Friday prayers in the Pakistani capital.
Earlier, Pakistani Hindus, who have been receiving social services provided by the charity, protested against the U.N. ban and the subsequent Pakistani government crackdown in Pakistans southern city of Hyderabad. And in Karachi, many students came out to protest the closure of their schools run by the charity.
Indias intelligence and security officials exploited the Mumbai attacks to threaten war against Pakistan, with help from U.S. and Britain. But the Indians have been unable so far to back their accusations with any evidence. Indian citizens are also concerned at the mounting evidence that a nexus of Hindu terrorist groups and active Indian military officers is connected at some level to the Mumbai carnage.
