It has been reported that the J-20's official name is "Black Eagle", while the NATO reporting name is "Firefang"

It got it from Huitong's site, so we aren't sure if it is true

Black eagle??? Too much like black hawk (the same in Chinese any ways). I like the NATO callsign better. Firefang. Evil sounding name.

I prefer "Peregrine Falcon"

But NATO callsigns sometimes are pretty weird. For example, what the heck is a "Fishbed" or a "Flanker" or a "Fishpot" or a "Frogfoot"?

Flanker is a football term. Frankly it isn't that bad when compared with Fishbed or Fagot.

NATO callsigns for fighters always begin with Fs so Peregrine Falcon probably won't be available.

What ever happened to the lovely name of "black silk ribbon"? or "X two holes"?:azn:

PS: you will get it if u go on chinese forums :azn:
