The United States, Canada, Britain, and the European Union are set to announce an array of sanctions on China on Monday over what U.S. officials have called a genocidal campaign against Uyghur Muslims, according to two people familiar with the issue.

The sanctions are expected to vary in type, and will include Global Magnitsky economic sanctions on individuals alleged to be involved with the mistreatment of the Muslims in the Xinjiang region of China.

The EU this morning approved sanctions against four Chinese officials involved in the internment of hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs.

The coordinated campaign of sanctions comes as Secretary of State Antony Blinken is on his way to visit European officials in Brussels. Blinken was among the U.S. officials who held a tense meeting with top Chinese officials in Alaska last week.
A U.S. government official and another person familiar with the issue confirmed the plans. The State Department spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

China is too big and too involved in the world economy to be blackmailed with sanctions. These are used to arm twist smaller and poorer nations. China is neither

I think it's a coincidence that these countries are the same as the colonists, they are also the same as the white countries, and they are the same as the countries that believe in the existence of WMD in Iraq.

So you think the UBCEU will sanction/harm Pakistan instead? attacking client states is a long established method of war amongst the great powers.

IT'S OFF: China laughs off toothless sanctions by has-beens

Pakistan has been sanctioned before and it may very well be again. Just look at how despite completing 24 out of 27 points on FATF, we are still in the grey list where as only 18 are required to get out of it. Arm twisting have always been the agenda of certain quarters.

Until a few months ago China chaired FATF. Do you still think FATF has an agenda? it’s fairly simple adhere to FATF rules and get out of the grey list. Like Israel did after spending a decade in the FATF grey / black list.

The evil satanic westerners as always stirring up issues. These satans only want their own dominance or else war.

You need to read the conditions of FATF. Whether the conditions were simple or not is a moot point because We complied with 24 conditions out of 27 whereas compliance with 17 or 18 are needed only to get out of the grey list. Than why are we still in it? Infact even last time we should had come out if it wasnt the usual political blackmailing because we had complied with 19. It raises serious questions on the credibility of FATF which is used as a punishing tool. On one hand it ignores India's money laundering and financial backing of terrorism and yet wants to keep Pakistan in the grey list even though we came through on 24 points out of 27 raised by FATF.
As for China chairing FATF, wasnt china accused of shielding pakistan from blacklist by the agenda specific countries even when we were complying on majority conditions. The reason we have not been in the black list is because of supportive countries that include China, Turkey, Malaysia. Otherwise the agenda was to blacklist us and cripple us financially.

The West is actually very miserable. They hate China but they are helpless. They want to start a war against China but they dare not!

Outright hypocrisy and double standards - where are US sanctions on Israel and India for their occupation and atrocities going back decades and outright violations of the UNSC Resolutions passed on those respective disputes?

The more likely scenario is a breakup of EU follows by US allies themselves.

Today for these nations, their national security interest will comes first.

What do they have to gain by protecting US supremacy?
Most of these nation top trading partner today is China and not USA.

South Korea was among the first to signal to USA that if itis against China, they will abstained and stay neutral. :coffee:
