Given the dire condition of the economy, the government might as well impose financial emergency and use discretionary powers attributable to the constitution to delay general elections in the country for another year beyond the 8th October date.

The date is remembered in Pakistan for devastating earthquake in 2005.

However, fundamental reforms are needed in electoral processes and formation of new administrative units imperative. Till then all such cosmetic changes are inconsequential.
