Italy’s Manisa books up to eight ships in China

Italy’s Manisa is expanding its fleet with a shipbuilding contract at CSSC Guangxi yard for up to eight general cargo vessels.

The contract covers six firm 8,500 dwt gearless, open-hatch ships for delivery in 2025 and 2026, with an option for two additional units.

The RINA-classed 119.9-m-long vessels, designed by Marine Design & Consulting of Norway, will have a 40% reduction in fuel consumption compared to similar ships.

The order is the largest export deal secured by Guangxi Shipbuilding’s Qinzhou base since it launched its shipbuilding business in 2020.

The Napels-based Manisa Bulk lists a fleet of 14 ships on its website, ranging from 7,600 to 12,500 dwt, with VesselsValue database showing six general cargo ships and a pair of MPPs as owned.
