Italy rescues nearly 6,000 migrants in a single weekend

Italy’s coastguard and navy have rescued nearly 6,000 migrants since Friday, as warm weather and improving sea conditions prompted an even higher number of boats than usual to set off from north Africa.

Rescue operations are still under way and at least nine migrants have died after their boat capsized about 80 miles off the coast of Libya, according to reports on Monday morning. About 144 people were saved in that operation.

Concerns have already been raised about the logic and morality of Europe’s decision to cut back maritime rescue operations in the Mediterranean last autumn. The EU is expected to announce a review of its policies in early May.

The new arrivals bring the total number of migrants who have entered Italy to more than 15,000 since the start of the year, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), which tracks the figures closely.

Most of them come from Sub Saharan Africa.Ofrcourse they come with their "mindsets" in here.Just heard a lovely story about muslim Africans throwing christian Africans overboard to the sharks during their travel.Nice folks we're receiving.

I was thinking the same.
I don't know why we bother ourselves to protect the UK borders,we should let them enter in the UK and let the UK police deal with them.
Calais is a nice city,but the shits that are there should be sent back to wherever they come from. (If we don't this city will become a garbage)

Now they're steadily coming from the Black Sea through Turkey in Romania.I just saw a video on it on Euronews.It's not an answer for frontier countries to just let them spread throughout Europe.Once out of containment they're like a disease spinning out of control.Truly,i know that most of them are human beings in search aof a new life but there's no better life in here.The economy is down,Europeans are poorer than before the crisis,unemployement is sky high and,last but not least there's a huge culture clash ,they're different people with a different culture-we're just setting up seeds for a conflict.

The problem is that they all immediately claim asylum upon arrival and due to stupid European laws they're put in camps so that their requests to be analysed,which takes a lot of time,time they use to slip into the mainland.

They should be deported back ,immediately upon arrival.Once they know that they face this perilous journey only to be send back,they'll stop coming.Now,they know that if they set foot in here they'll stay.What the EU is doing is called murder to its real citizens,this has no excuse !
