Quetta - PML-N leader and former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that PML-N, PKMAP and NP will form a people-friendly government in Balochistan, adding the name of leader of the house will be announced with consultation of the three parties soon.
The meeting with Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was positive and he gave a detailed briefing to the countrys future prime minister, Nawaz Shahrif, on terrorism, relations with neighbouring countries and security affairs, he said during his one-day visit to Quetta on Sunday.
Shahbaz Sharif, accompanied by PML-N central leaders, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Pervez Rashid and others, arrived in Quetta to meet political leaders for the formation of a coalition government in the province and nominate chief minister.
Shahbaz Sharif visited PKMAP President Mehmood Khan Achakzais residence and discussed with him the formation of coalition government and leader of the house in the Balochistan Assembly. He also held separate meetings with National Party (NP) leader Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Interim Chief Minister Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Barozai.
Talking to media people, Shahbaz Sharif said the main purpose of his visit to Quetta was to offer condolences to PML-N leader Nawab Sanaullah Zehri over the tragic incident. He felicitated Zehri for making PML-N functional in Balochistan, which had emerged one of the largest parliamentary parties in the elections. He added PML-N, PKMAP and NP would form government in Balochistan.
I have thoroughly discussed the formation of government with Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and sought their advice and recommendations regarding the leader of the house, he said, adding he would present the recommendations and a report to Nawaz Sharif in this connection.
Shahbaz Sharif said for the first time a people-friendly government would be formed in Balochistan, which would address all the problems like corruption, lawlessness and backwardness in the province.
A cabinet of 60 members would neither be formed nor would MPAs be given Rs 250 million to Rs 300 million funds, he pledged. The PML-N leader said, A small cabinet would be formed in the province, which should work transparently, besides focusing on education, health, unemployment, agriculture and industries. A special focus will be on the law and order situation.
Responding to a question, Shahbaz Sharif said Nawab Sanaullah Zehri was PML-Ns provincial president and parliamentary leader, however, leader of the house would be decided by the three parties after consultations within a few days.
When his attention was drawn towards induction of JUI-F in the provincial government, he said they had talked to Raja Zafar-ul-Hq at the Centre so far.
To yet another query, he said PML-N had emerged as the largest party at the Centre, adding an impressive and positive meeting was held with Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. The army chief briefed Nawaz Sharif on terrorism, relations with Afghanistan as well as other neighbouring countries, national security and other issues. He said the situation of Balochistan, particularly Quetta, had gravely deteriorated and lawlessness was touching its peak.
The people have given mandate to these parties for eradication of poverty, inflation and lawlessness by rejecting the parties which were part of the previous government, he added.
He said Mehmood Khan Achakzai had rendered sacrifices for the sake of democracy and always opposed dictatorship, adding Achakzai and Nawaz Sharif had personal relations. PML-N would make all-out efforts for the development of Balochistan, he vowed.
