Israelis bombed Syrian ‘nuclear facility site’ in 2007: IAEA

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Yukiya Amano has said that a target destroyed by Israeli warplanes in the Syrian desert in 2007 was the covert site of a future nuclear reactor.

Amano spoke during a Paris news conference meant to focus on Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster.

“The facility that was destroyed by Israel was a nuclear reactor under construction,” the Scotsman quoted Amano, as saying.

“It was a reactor under construction,” he added. Israel has never publicly commented on the strike or even acknowledged carrying it out, while Syria denies allegations of any covert nuclear activity or interest in developing nuclear arms.

However, the US has shared intelligence with the IAEA that identifies the structure as a nearly completed nuclear reactor that, if finished, would have been able to produce plutonium for the fissile core of nuclear warheads.

isn't it dangerous to just go and bomb a nuclear facility that has deadly chemicals and stuff like that? was it active or under construction and did it had any nuclear stuff inside it?

Why it looks like the right photo is photshoped?-
I dont know why it looks to u photoshoped. Do u doubt it was not destroyed? ;)

Not active yet, but close to activation.

I have seen destroyed buildings from top- this looks so neat-as if photoshoped-

It is because Syrians were quick to clean and flatten the area, to get rid of the evidence

Maybe the building was just shoddily constructed in the first place. Israel wouldn't have to bomb the Syrian nuclear plant to make it collapse. It would do that on its own. They have enough trouble constructing mud huts, let alone nuclear reactors. They should stick to what they do best, tending goats and camels.

For a change they didn't bomb a school or hospital? damn they must be feeling so bad about themselves ....
