Israeli arms manufacturer sues Georgia for $100 million debt

Israel's Elbit Systems, a leading defense electronics manufacturer, filed a lawsuit with a UK court against the Georgian government over an alleged $100-million debt, a company spokesman said on Sunday.

"The suit is against the Georgian government for failing to pay money to the company for arms supplies under several contracts that were signed in 2007," the spokesman said declining to specify the type of arms.

In 2007, Georgia reportedly bought 40 unmanned aerial vehicles Hermes 450 from Elbit Systems. The Israeli company also helped Georgia modernize its Su-25 (Frogfoot) jet aircraft manufactured in Tbisili, Georgia's capital, during the said period.
