Israel steps up interest in V-22 Osprey

Israeli air force pilots and technical experts will soon meet US Marine Corps staff to hear their opinion about the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor that is now being used in Afghanistan.

The planned meeting represents a further step in Israel's renewed evaluation of the V-22, as reported by Flightglobal in March. This is intended to determine whether the tiltrotor should be included in the new multi-year plan of the Israeli defence forces.

Israel's interest in the V-22 stems from the type's ability to rapidly deploy Special Forces personnel, and to meet other urgent mission requirements, such as performing medical evacuation missions, according to Israeli sources.

Air force interest in the high-speed rotorcraft dates to 2007.

do they have money producing factory?? Sometimes i think Israel is not an independent country , just a small part of USA

.
if they get than they will be 1st foreign customer outside usa

.
It's tight in there, especially with fully equipped operators and well, if you put more than one gun on it, you will pay for it in payload -- it's fun

.
well the aircraft can hover like a chopper and fly like a plane and is apparently the only other plane except for the F-35 and the Harrier.
It a good Investment seeing as it also has airlift capabilities. It uniquely bridges the gap between a Chinook and a harrier.

Obviously. Israel always had access to every US-made weapons because Israeli-origin persons have some or the other contribution in US companies making these fancy weapons. Netanyahu has to just walk into the White House with a list of weapons and he gets it. V-22 is a fine aircraft and if they can arm it with some high caliber machine guns, that would be one deadly marine assault aircraft. It would make Israeli Navy lethal.
